Psychology - Professional Counseling (PSCO), BS/MS

Return to: Programs of Study A student may apply for provisional admission to the Psychology-Professional Counseling (PPC) accelerated program once they have met the following conditions:
- Complete 45 hours of university credit with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- Complete 12 hours of Psychology courses with a minimum GPA in those classes of 3.0
Application for provisional admission to the PPC (typically during the 2nd semester of the sophomore year) requires the following steps:
- Three letters of recommendation sent to the Department of Mental Health and Wellness with at least one letter written by a Psychology faculty member at Harding
- An application for admission to the graduate program in mental health and wellness
Application for full admission to the PPC (typically during the 1st semester of the junior year) requires the following steps:
- Successful completion of the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) with a minimum score of 385 or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with a minimum score of 286. When requesting the score from the Educational Testing Service please reference Harding University code 6267.
- Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis
- Interview and writing prompt
- Overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Undergraduate Psychology GPA of 3.0
Admitted students in the PPC program may enroll in graduate counseling courses after they complete 90 undergraduate hours. PPC students will be fully admitted into a graduate mental health and wellness program once they have met the following conditions:
- Completion of the Bachelor’s degree
- Overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 in the required psychology and counseling courses.

Liberal Arts: 44 Hours
All majors at Harding are required to complete the 47-hour Liberal Arts program. The following Liberal Arts requirement is met within the content of the major:
- PSY 2010 satisfies 3 hours of Self and Society.
Accelerated Program Undergraduate Requirements: 54 Hours
Clinical Mental Health Counseling: 12-14 Hours
Choose 12-14 hours from: Required Electives: 6 Hours
Choose at least 6 hours from the following list of courses. Students are encouraged to take more as general electives. Undergraduate Completion: 128 Hours
Remaining Graduate Requirements: 46-48 Hours
Students must complete one of the following programs to obtain the Master of Science:
Students must earn a minimum average of 3.0 GPA in all Counseling courses to continue in a Professional Counseling program. No grade below C is acceptable for graduate credit (but will be used to calculate GPA). Only 6 semester hours of C credit may be counted for the MS, but the BS may allow more than 6 hours of coursework with a C final grade.
