Bible and Divinity (BDIV), BA/MDiv

This program makes it possible for qualified students to complete both the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Bible and Divinity and the Master of Divinity  (M.Div.) degrees in six years.

Requirements


Liberal Arts: 39 Hours


All majors at Harding are required to complete the 47-hour Liberal Arts  program. The following Liberal Arts requirements are met within the content of the major:

  • 8 hours of Scripture, Truth, and Ethics are satisfied in the major.

Recommended

  • BMIS 3000  is recommended to satisfy 3 hours of Self and Society.

Bible and Ministry Core: 51 Hours


All Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) majors in the College of Bible & Ministry  share a uniform core of classes that serve as foundational to all future ministry pursuits. The purpose of the core is to equip all majors with basic tools and knowledge for ministry. The College of Bible and Ministry core consists of:

  • This core does not apply to Leadership and Ministry and Missions as a Second major.
  • Transfer students will be required to take BNEW 3020 BOLD 3020 , and at least 2 hours of textual Bible instead of the freshmen/sophomore Bible classes.

Students must take three semesters of Greek and three semesters of Hebrew.

Total number of Bible Hours: 63


Year 4 at Harding School of Theology: 24 Hours


  • During Year 4, students will complete 24 hours of graduate courses at Harding School of Theology (HST) that apply to both the B.A. and M.Div. Students will continue to live in Searcy and complete the courses through HST Live, through one-week intensives, or by commuting to Memphis.
  • Students in Year 4 will be classified as graduate students.
  • BMIN 5990  must be taken in the first semester of Year 4 and must be taken in Memphis. In Year 4 students must also take at least two textual courses (with BNEW or BOLD prefix). The remaining 5 courses may be chosen from the M.Div. course menu.
  • Students who earn a grade of A or B in HEB 3000  may take a Hebrew textual course at HST without the prerequisite BOLD 5100 .
  • Students who earn a grade of A or B in GRK 3000-3001  may substitute a Greek textual course for the M.Div. requirement of BNEW 5320 .

Remaining Electives: 2 Hours


Total Hours: 128


NOTE: During years 5 and 6 at HST, students will complete 36 additional M.Div. hours to earn the M.Div. degree, for a total of 60 hours. Ordinarily, the M.Div. requires 78 hours but is reduced by 18 hours of advanced standing by examination, which is available to the student who follows this curriculum.
