This laboratory course provides experience with neuroscience research. Projects will focus on the functional analysis of brain cells. Students will learn to analyze the response of cells using a variety of molecular biology techniques. The primary focus will be if/how brain cells respond to environmental stimuli. The lab is designed to give students first-hand experience designing and executing properly controlled research projects. Students will be expected to obtain research results and produce a scientific, grant-styled research paper based on the background and findings of their project. Research experience will be designed to support student interest and provide skills applicable to graduate and professional programs as well as scientific jobs after graduation.
