Athletic Training (MSAT), M.S.

The Athletic Training Program is located within the College of Allied Health. The mission of this program is to instill essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions for successful careers, advanced study, and servant leadership in the field of athletic training.

The program is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation for Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and is currently transitioning from an undergraduate degree to a Master of Science in Athletic Training (M.S.A.T.).

Degree Tracks

There are two tracks students may take to prepare for the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT):

Non-traditional (or fast-track) - This 3+2 curriculum makes it possible for qualified students to complete both a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Science in Athletic Training in five years. Students will declare Exercise Science: Pre-Athletic Training  as their undergraduate major, complete liberal arts credits and prerequisites during their first three years, and finish graduate school in years four and five. The two years of graduate school start in the summer and conclude the following spring, totaling six semsters.

Accpetance into the Athletic Training master’s program involves a secondary application process. Students enrolled in the non-traditional route that are not accepted into the Athletic Training Program will transition into the traditional route; completing a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science during their fourth year.

The traditional track is required for the following:

  • Students competing in University athletics
  • All transfer students
  • All students changing their major to Exercise Science (Pre-Athletic Training)
