Entrance to physical therapy school is very competitive. Most schools of physical therapy require a bachelor’s degree for admittance into their program, as well as specific prerequisite courses. Students should maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA. Many schools require the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Observing or aiding a licensed physical therapist is also required by most physical therapy schools.
Students should obtain admissions requirements to the schools they plan to apply to and arrange curriculum accordingly. Information regarding all accredited physical therapy programs may be found at www.apta.org. Students are also encouraged to contact the prephysical therapy adviser for guidance in planning coursework. Although students may choose from a variety of majors, the following courses should be included in the academic plan. |
