Requirements

Students seeking licensure to teach French must complete 27 hours of the language, including the following:

FR 303 - Advanced Grammar and Composition Credit Hours: 3
FR 433 - Advanced Phonetics Credit Hours: 3
FR 452 - Senior Seminar (Licensure) Credit Hours: 2
and
SEED 419 - Teaching Modern Foreign Language Credit Hours: 3

6 hours in culture, civilization and literature

(a minimum of 3 hours must be culture and civilization)

FR 301 - Introduction to French Literature Credit Hours: 3
FR 305 - Contemporary French Civilization Credit Hours: 3
FR 325 - Regional Language and Culture Credit Hours: 3
FR 401 - French Literature -18th and 19th Centuries Credit Hours: 3
FR 402 - French Literature 20th and 21st Centuries Credit Hours: 3
FR 432 - French Classicism Credit Hours: 3
FR 434 - Literature of the 19th Century Credit Hours: 3
FR 435 - Literature of the 20th Century Credit Hours: 3

Note(s):

At least 9 of the total hours must be upper level.

FR 313 is highly recommended.

The official ACTFL Oral Proficiency telephonic interview is required with an Advanced Low rating.

Students seeking teaching licensure must follow eligibility criteria for admission and retention listed in the Cannon-Clary College of Education section of the undergraduate catalog.
