FLAN 420 - Foreign Language Teaching Methods and Assessment, K-8 This course provides an overview of current theories of second language development in children, age-appropriate K-8 teaching methods and assessment, and different types of program objectives for integrating language and culture with content areas of the elementary and middle school curriculum. Students will identify and reflect on strategies and resources for planning, technology, assessment, communicative activities, vocabulary and literacy instruction, and program advocacy. The course includes ten hours of observation and reflection on young learner classrooms and prepares potential licensure candidates for careers in the emerging K-12 foreign language environment.
Prerequisite(s): Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Teacher Education Program and EDFD 311 .
