NURS 300 - Professional Nursing

An introductory course that provides foundational nursing knowledge, skills, and practice interventions. The course incorporates principles from the sciences and humanities and emphasizes evidence-based professional nursing practice based on the nursing process. Content focuses on safety and patient care, teamwork and collaborating, using sound nursing judgment, a spirit of inquiry, and principles of human flourishing. A grade of “C” or higher is required. Three lecture hours per week and six laboratory or clinical hours per week. Computer requirement: All students involved in the nursing program must have ready access to a laptop computer and designated software. Specific hardware and software requirements are posted on the Carr College of Nursing website.

Prerequisite(s): Prerequisite: BIOL 249, BIOL 253; MATH 107 with a “B” or higher; NURS 100, NURS 203. With prior approval of the prenursing advisor, the student may concurrently enroll in NURS 100, NURS 203 and NURS 300. Submission of all current health, CPR and TB documentation is required.
