CHEM 315 - Instrumental Methods of Chemical Analysis


An overview of basic components, theory, and applications of analytical instruments in the laboratory. Topics discussed include UV/Vis, IR, fluorescence, atomic absorption, and NMR spectroscopy as well as high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, mass spectroscopy and electrochemistry. Two class periods and two laboratory periods per week.

Prerequisite(s): Prerequisite: CHEM 261  or consent of instructor and PHYS 202  or PHYS 212  . PHYS 202 or 212 may be taken concurrently.

Credit Hours: 4
