NURS 350 - Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing


Research-based theories, concepts and the nursing process are emphasized using critical thinking skills to provide holistic nursing care. In tertiary and community-based settings, students use standards of ethical professional nursing practice to assist adult clients with mental health and psychiatric concerns to restore, maintain and promote health, or attain optimum well-being. Responsibility and accountability for nursing care, collaboration, resource conservation and use, respect for human worth and dignity, national and global concerns, and a commitment to a servant-leadership lifestyle are foundational to effective clinical judgments and client outcomes. Three lecture hours per week and 96 clinical hours.

Prerequisite(s): Prerequisite: Level I standing and NURS 300.
