NURS 454 - Advanced Medical Surgical Nursing Research-based theories, concepts, and basic critical-care skills are emphasized within the framework of the nursing process using critical thinking skills to provide holistic nursing care to critically ill clients and their families. In tertiary care settings, students apply advanced nursing skills, standards of ethical professional nursing practice, Christian values of caring, faith, and service, and servant-leadership principles to assist adult clients with high risk, unstable, and critical health conditions to restore, maintain, and promote health or to die with dignity. Responsibility and accountability for nursing care, collaboration, resource conservation and use, and respect for human worth and dignity are foundational to effective clinical judgments and client outcomes. Three lecture hours per week and 96 clinical hours. This course is eligible for honors credit.
