FCS 4020 - Ethics in Child and Family Services


This course provides students the opportunity to explore professional ethics related to fields such as child life, family life education, family and consumer sciences, child development, and other helping fields. Students will examine "real life" case studies and apply the techniques discussed in the class. Students will examine their personal beliefs, ethics, values and codes of conduct in working with individuals and families. Professional boundaries will also be explored as they apply to clients and co-professionals. Use of critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and justification for ethical decisions will be emphasized.
