NURS 3540 - Gerontological NursingConcepts, knowledge and cultural information essential to holistic nursing care of older adults are explored using the nursing process. Community resources are identified and interdisciplinary collaboration encouraged in secondary and community-based care settings to assist elders in adapting to the aging process, maintaining wellness and achieving optimum well-being. Prevention and management of common acute and chronic health problems are emphasized while exploring nursing interventions to assist older clients to restore, maintain and promote health; attain optimum well-being or to die with dignity. Two lecture hours per week. Prerequisite(s): Admission to the BSN program Credit Hours: 2 Term Offered: Fall, Spring (Summer for NW AR only) |
