FR 4520-4521 - Senior Seminar (Licensure)


A review of grammar, culture and literature with additional practice in advanced listening comprehension and extemporaneous speaking. This capstone course includes a major investigative cultural research project focusing on a product, practice or perspective. This cross-disciplinary project will encompass background from the student's major courses in the language as well as supporting courses and experiences in the degree plan. In addition to the written thesis, a half-hour oral presentation in the target language is required before a panel, followed by a defense. Also a separate one-half hour oral proficiency interview will be part of the final exam for this course. The official ACTFL Oral Proficiency telephonic interview will be required as a component of this course. FR 4520 will be taken for zero credits in the fall semester prior to presenting the capstone project in the spring semester, and FR 4521 must be taken for 2 credit hours in the spring semester. A grade of C or higher is required to pass FR 4521.
