ENG 3220 - Foundations of English Grammar


Students in this course will learn the basic conventions of Standard Edited U.S. English. The class focuses primarily on traditional, Latin-based English syntax, verb construction, punctuation, and major errors. Students also explore conflicting views of English grammarians and contemporary developments in linguistics. Students will teach the class on a major topic. In addition to education majors, the course has strong applications for anyone interested in writing or reviewing the writing of others. Required for English licensure majors.
