Family Nurse Practitioner (Second MSN)
This degree is designed for Registered Nurses and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who have earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program, and desire the preparation needed for another specialty area and an additional Master’s degree. The online, hybrid format is planned to meet the needs and schedules of working nurses. Admission to the Second MSN track is subject to the same admission standards as students without an earned Master’s degree. The recommended graduate GPA is 3.0/4.0 for admission for a Second MSN. The students will be required to complete all the courses at Harding that are related to the preparation needed for the Family Nurse Practitioner role and certification exam, and the course designated as Bible credit. Up to 15 hours of courses may be transferred in for consideration by faculty to meet the courses designated as Master’s Essentials in order to obtain the second MSN.
Transfer of Credit: Prior the first semester of admission, students in the Second MSN program may request the transfer of a maximum of 15 graduate credits into the program. The approved transfer of credits will be considered only for baseline courses designated as Master’s Essential courses. Students may not transfer in course credit for courses designated as NP Core Courses or FNP Focus Courses. All students will be required to complete the course designated as Bible credit. The transfer credit grade(s) earned must be an A, B or Pass, and be completed within the last 5 years. In collaboration with the Harding University Registrar, the Dean or the FNP Program Director of the Carr College of Nursing must approve the transfer credit. Students should be prepared to submit transfer course descriptions and syllabi of transfer work if questions of equivalency arise in the course evaluations. Harding University calculates the GPA of all transfer and Harding earned credits.
