The Master of Arts in Teaching program has options leading to teaching licensure in elementary, middle level, secondary level, early childhood/special education integrated birth through kindergarten, and special education K-12. This program is designed to provide a means for candidates already holding a bachelor’s degree to obtain teaching licensure at the Birth-K, K-6, 4-8, 7-12, or K-12 grade level. The degree will be offered at four locations - the main campus in Searcy, and at Harding’s Professional Centers in North Little Rock and Rogers, Arkansas. Two tracks are offered for candidates to complete this degree - Provisional Licensure Track and Traditional Student Teaching Track.

I. Master of Arts in Teaching Core (21 hours)

EDFD 6110 - Advanced Principles of Learning and Teaching Credit Hours: 3
EDT 6200 - Instructional Applications of Technology Credit Hours: 3
MAT 6010 - School and Families in a Changing Environment Credit Hours: 3
MAT 6030 - Managing the Learning Environment Credit Hours: 3
MAT 6060 - Instructional Strategies and Assessment Credit Hours: 3
MAT 6660 - Education Law and Values Credit Hours: 3
SPED 6210 - Characteristics of Students with Exceptionalities Credit Hours: 3

II. Secondary Requirements

MAT 6520 - Action Research Credit Hours: 3
SPED 6500 - Interdisciplinary Literacy Credit Hours: 3

III. Field Experience (6 hours)

SEED 6510 - Supervised Teaching: Secondary (7-12) Credit Hours: 1-6

III. Bible (2 hours)

EDL 6490 - Christian Ethics in Education Credit Hours: 2

Total hours: 35
