Students seeking licensure to teach Spanish must complete 27 hours of the language, including the following:
or SPAN 1030 Accelerated Elementary Spanish I Credit Hours: 3
or SPAN 1040 Accelerated Elementary Spanish II Credit Hours: 3
or SPAN 3150 Cultures of Latin America Credit Hours: 3
or SPAN 3250 Regional Language and Culture Credit Hours: 3
or SPAN 4010 Survey of Peninsular Spanish Literature I Credit Hours: 3
or SPAN 4020 Survey of Peninsular Spanish Literature II Credit Hours: 3
or SPAN 4350 Literature of 20th & 21st Century Spain Credit Hours: 3
or SPAN 4360 Spanish Drama & Poetry of the 19th-21st Centuries Credit Hours: 3
At least 9 of the total hours must be upper level.
SPAN 3130 is highly recommended.
The official ACTFL Oral Proficiency telephonic interview is required with a target rating of advanced low.
Students seeking teaching licensure must follow eligibility criteria for admission and retention listed in the Cannon-Clary College of Education .
