Liberal Arts: 47 Hours
All majors at Harding are required to complete 53 hours of Liberal Arts studies. The following Liberal Arts requirements are met within the content of the major:
- Three hours of the Creative Spirit component are met within in the major and counted below.
- Three hours of the Global Perspectives component are met by MUS 3240 and counted below.

- 1Students must take piano every semester for credit until they pass the Piano Proficiency Exam.
- Music major status requires a passing score of 80% or higher on the Theory Entrance Exam or MUS 1700 with a grade of “B” or higher; and satisfactory performance on the Theory, Keyboard, and Principle Applied Performance Evalutions.
- Music majors must participate in an primary ensemble and music forum every semester.
- Enrollment in ensembles is not required for credit. If taken for credit, hours will be counted as electives.
Additional applied study: 6 Hours
Six semesters of additional applied study at the 1020 and 3020 level are required. Students whose primary instrument is piano may substitute MUS 3070 for 3 hours of applied study.
Remaining Bible/Electives: 20 Hours
BMIN 3000 is required of all music majors, and satisfies the Bible requirement in the semester it is taken. See Bible Class Enrollment policy here .
Electives must be chosen to meet the graduation requirement of 45 upper-level credits.
