Requirements

Liberal Arts: 44 Hours

All majors at Harding are required to complete 53 hours of Liberal Arts studies. The following Liberal Arts requirements are met within the content of the major:

• Three hours of the Creative Spirit in the Liberal Arts  requirements are met within the major and counted below.
• Six hours of Global Perspectives in the Liberal Arts requirements are met within the major and counted below.

Required:

• ENG 201  or ENG 202  is still required.

Music Major Core: 36 Hours

Music major status requires a passing score of 80 percent or higher on the Theory Entrance Examination or MUS 170  with a grade of “B” or better; and satisfactory performance on the Theory, Keyboard and Principle Applied Performance Evaluations. Bachelor of Music status requires meeting the technical proficiency and repertoire standards of the BMVP program. If the BMVP standards are not met upon enrollment, the student may be admitted provisionally and must meet the standards by the beginning of the second semester in order to be considered a BMVP candidate.

• MUS 140 - Music Forum (Majors must enroll in and satisfy the requirements every semester.)
• MUS 171 - Theory and Ear Training I Credit Hours: 4

• (Leveling for MUS 171, if needed, increases required music hours by 3.)

• MUS 172 - Theory and Ear Training II Credit Hours: 4
• MUS 271 - Theory and Ear Training III Credit Hours: 4
• MUS 272 - Theory and Ear Training IV Credit Hours: 4
• MUS 321 - Music History I Credit Hours: 3
• MUS 322 - Music History II Credit Hours: 3

• One year of a modern foreign language (choose from FR 101  / FR 102  or GER 101  / GER 102  or ITAL 101  / ITAL 102  for a total of 8 hours.
