Secondary Education (SEED), (Licensure)

Students seeking licensure to teach must major in a secondary teaching area.

Requirements

To receive an endorsement for K-12 in any of the following areas, the student must complete the appropriate academic major:

• Art: Art Major (ARED) (Teacher Licensure), BA  
• Drama/Speech: Drama/Speech Major (Teacher Licensure) (DRSP), BA  
• Foreign Language: French Major (FREC) (Teacher Licensure), BA  , Spanish Major (SPAC) (Teacher Licensure), BA  
• Kinesiology/Health/Coaching: Kinesiology and Health Major, K-12 (KNHL) (Teacher Licensure), BS  
• Music Vocal: Music Education - Vocal Major (MEVC), BME [Teacher Licensure]  
• Music Instrumental: Music Education - Instrumental Major (MEIN), BME [Teacher Licensure]  
• Early Childhood/Special Education Endorsement (UG)  
• And 6 hours of physical education, including HED 203  and three hours of physical education activity.

To receive an endorsement for 7-12 in any of the following areas, the student must complete the appropriate academic major:

• English/Language Arts: English Major (ENGC) (Teacher Licensure), BA  
• Family and Consumer Sciences: Family and Consumer Sciences Education Major (FCSE), BS   
• Life Science: Biology Major (BEDU) (Teacher Licensure), BA  
• Mathematics: Mathematics Major (MEDU) (Teacher Licensure), BA  
• Physical Science: Chemistry Major (CEDU) (Teacher Licensure), BA  
• Social Studies: Social Science Major (SSCT) (Teacher Licensure), BA  
• Special Education Endorsement
• Theatre: Theatre Major (THT2), BA  
• And 6 hours of physical education, including HED 203  and 3 hours of physical education activity.

Students seeking initial and additional licensure must meet current Arkansas licensure and Cannon-Clary College of Education  requirements in that teaching field as announced by ADE.
