Painting Major (PTNG), BFA


Bachelor of Fine Arts Program


Before being formally admitted to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program, candidates must:

  1. Pass the Sophomore Portfolio Review (see explanation below).
  2. Submit a completed application form (www.harding.edu/assets/www/academics/colleges-departments/arts-humanities/art-design/pdf/bfaapplicationform.pdf).

A minimum GPA of 3.0, within the major, is required for graduation.

Requirements


Liberal Arts: 53 Hours


Majors are required to take either THEA 101  or MUS 101  to meet the Creative Spirit Liberal Arts requirement.

Remaining Bible/Electives: 6 Hours


ART 375 , counted above in the major, satisfies the Bible Enrollment requirement in the semester it is taken. See Bible Class Enrollment policy here .

Note(s): Sophomore portfolio review


The sophomore portfolio review is for the art & design student who has completed (including current classes) 15 credit hours of selected core art & design coursework. The review is intended to provide feedback on the student’s artistic growth progress. At the review we will be assessing: drawing and compositional skills, presentation skills, ability to discuss and exhibit work and the student’s level of knowledge about current professional activity in his or her program area.

Sophomore portfolio review for Painting Majors: Required after the student has completed: ART 103 , ART 104 , ART 105 , ART 200 , ART 260  and in or completed ART 291 . A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in these art and design courses is required to be eligible for participating in the sophomore portfolio review. Passing the sophomore portfolio review is a prerequisite to enrolling in junior level courses.
