Graphic Design Major (GRDE), BFA


Bachelor of Fine Arts Program


Before being formally admitted to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program, candidates must:

  1. Pass the Sophomore Portfolio Review (see explanation below).
  2. Submit a completed application form (www.harding.edu/assets/www/academics/colleges-departments/arts-humanities/art-design/pdf/bfaapplicationform.pdf).

A minimum GPA of 3.0, within the major, is required for graduation.

Requirements


Liberal Arts: 47 Hours


Majors will meet the Creative Spirit Liberal Arts requirement  for ART 101 , MUS 101  or THEA 101  within the major requirements. ENG 201  or ENG 202  is required.

Remaining Bible/Electives: 6 Hours


ART 375 , counted above in the major, satisfies the Bible Enrollment requirement in the semester it is taken. See Bible Class Enrollment policy here .

Note(s): Sophomore portfolio review


The sophomore portfolio review is for the art & design student who has completed (including current classes) 15 credit hours of selected core art & design coursework. The review is intended to provide feedback on the student’s artistic growth progress. At the review we will be assessing: drawing and compositional skills, presentation skills, ability to discuss and exhibit work and the student’s level of knowledge about current professional activity in his or her program area.

Sophomore portfolio review for Graphic Design Majors: Required after the student has completed ART 103 , ART 118 , ART 200 , ART 220  and ART 260 . A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in these art & design courses is required to be eligible for participating in sophomore portfolio review. Passing the sophomore portfolio review is a prerequisite to enrolling in junior level courses.
