The mission of Academic Advising is to promote student development in acquiring essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions in order to effectively and efficiently prepare students as they pursue their academic and career goals. The Academic Advising staff within the Center for Student Success (CSS) coordinates advising programs for students who are General Studies majors and for students who have not yet declared a major. Additionally, the staff refers students to other departments within CSS or across campus as needed.
Academic Advising coordinates an “Early Alert!” system — designed to identify students who are experiencing academic challenges early in the semester — and offers the necessary support and referrals to help students get back on track. In addition, Academic Advising works closely with students who are on academic probation and/or financial aid suspension, through in-person meetings, classes, and other activities (e.g., action plans, self-assessments) destined specifically for students with academic difficulties.
The Academic Advising office may be contacted by calling (501)279-4531, or by email at advising@harding.edu. |
