SPED 6730 - Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted Children

This course will serve as an introduction to the development, guidance and teaching of gifted children. Those taking this course will review current research on the affective characteristics, personality traits, and affective growth and adjustment of gifted children. How relationships with parents, teachers, school personnel and peers affect the developing personalities of the gifted will also be examined. Classroom methods and materials to enhance the social, emotional and affective development of gifted and talented students will be provided.

Credit Hours: 3
