SPED 6260 - Foundations in Special Education K-12 This course will provide an overview of special education including current issues, laws and practices that influence programs serving students with disabilities kindergarten through twelfth grade. There will be an emphasis on research dealing with physical, mental, emotional and social characteristics of students with various exceptionalities. In addition, there will be a focus on the following: best practices; current issues in human development and special education; assistive technology; collaboration with families, other educators, related service providers, and personnel from community agencies in culturally responsive ways; and concerns facing individuals working in the field of special education.
