IS 4300 - Data Analytics This course provides an introduction to the field of business analytics, which has been defined as the extensive use of data, applications, mathematical and statistical techniques and other skills that help business gain insights and understand a business performance.
In this course the student will gain basic knowledge of business analytics using one or more of the most popular analytical tools such as SAS, Tableau or Microsoft’s SQL Server. In the first couple of chapters a foundational coverage of these tools is presented along with basics of how they apply basic statistics and descriptive statistical techniques. Predictive modeling is also introduced with concepts such as correlation and regression. The class ends with a discussion and comparative evaluation of current advanced analytics tools such as Hadoop and Nosql (among others).
Prerequisite(s): BUS 3265 . Prerequisite courses must be completed with a C or better.
