COMO 102 - An Archaeology of Communication


Explores the basis of human communication behavior. Starting with an overview of the role of the senses, the course builds a model of communication as an adaptation of human needs. Topics covered include needs, psychological forms, the role of the subconscious, ritual and ritualized communication nonverbal and verbal communication. Activities include oral presentations, group work as well as field trips off campus. Ethnographic analysis of behavior is stressed.

This course is restricted to members of the Honors College, and meets the Liberal Arts requirement in place of COMO 101  .

Credit Hours: 3
