NURS 354 - Gerontological Nursing Concepts, knowledge and cultural information essential to holistic nursing care of older adults are explored using the nursing process. Community resources are identified and interdisciplinary collaboration encouraged in secondary and community-based care settings to assist elders in adapting to the aging process, maintaining wellness and achieving optimum well-being. Prevention and management of common acute and chronic health problems are emphasized while exploring nursing interventions to assist older clients to restore, maintain and promote health; attain optimum well-being or to die with dignity. One and a half lecture hours and one and a half laboratory hours per week. This course is eligible for honors credit.
