MFT 622 - Social and Cultural Diversity


Study of unique characteristics of individuals, couples, families, ethnic groups and communities, and includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1) attitudes, beliefs, understandings and acculturative expressions and learning activities; 2) therapeutic strategies for working with diverse populations and ethnic groups via models or theories of identity development; 3) cultural awareness of therapist regarding self, biases, prejudices and process of discrimination or behavior detrimental to individual and family development; and 4) ethical and legal considerations.
