COUN 662 - Addictions Counseling


This course provides foundational knowledge for counseling persons with substance use disorders and process disorders (food, sex, etc.). The student will be introduced to definitions of addiction, substance abuse and dependence. A holistic approach to treatment and recovery will be emphasized. Assessment, initial treatment, and intervention techniques will be explored for rehabilitation of substance use disorders. Twelve step and spiritual approaches will also be reviewed.
